Just Words, No Fancy Pants

OnSong can slurp up plain text files like they're nothin' — treats 'em the same as OnSong or ChordPro files. Srsly. All these formats? They're just text-based chord charts that you can mess with in the Song Tinkerer. So y'all can literally scribble your sick tunes in a .txt file & OnSong'll be like "yup, I gotchu" and recognize it as either:

OnSong File Format

The OnSong file format is OnSong's native, text-based chord chart thingamajig. It uses, get this, actual text & human-readable syntax to make chord charts. Revolutionary, we know.

ChordPro File Format

The ChordPro file format is what all the other apps are usin' (ZOMG, the competition, amirite?). It's got syntax kinda like OnSong's, except instead of being, y'know, readable, it's got curly braces everywhere like some kinda programmer wrote it. Those braces are "tags" or whatever — they're basically metadata tellin' the song where all its bits & bobs go.
