You (But Like, Your Settings)

The profile screen lets you set up how you flex on the OnSong local network, plus how song stuff gets beamed to your device. Use this bad boy to make music look the way you want it when some leader's device is pushin' it your way.

Network Panic Button

Upper right corner's got a recycling button. Smash it & it'll nuke your network back to factory settings—like cleanin' out the digital junk drawer & restartin' all the bleepin' network stuff. Tap this when you're havin' a connectivity meltdown.

Yo, That's You

This text field is where you brag about your name on the network. Leave it blank & OnSong will just slap your account name + device type up there like a sad default. Not signed in? The device name shows up instead. Change it to somethin' that screams musicianship, like "Guitar Overlord".

Song Version

OnSong Connect yeets the text-based chord chart or external file from the leader's device to you. But hey, maybe you got your own version of the tune that you actually wanna use. Go for it.

  • None means the song won't change on your device when the leader ditches it for a new one. Perfect if you're just usin' OnSong Connect for the other stuff like messages.
  • Use my version will grab your personal version of the chord chart if it exists. OnSong matches by song title, number, CCLI number, or whatever provider ID jazz.
  • Use the shared version always uses what the leader's sendin' over. This is the default, btw.

The Fancy Stuff

Options here let you tweak how music looks & what services get turned on. Pick "default" & the shared version's settings run the show. Here's the laundry list:

  • Backing Track lets your device's backing track start & stop when the leader does theirs. Default is off.
  • Metronome syncs your metronome to the leader's metronome on/off button mashing. Default is off. Heads up: there's a lil' lag when startin' & stoppin' the metronome. Don't fire up like fifty metronomes at once cuz they'll all get twitchy & start at slightly different times. Blame the wireless network's lame millisecond hiccups.
  • Navigation — you lettin' the leader scroll & zoom your stuff, or nah? Turn this off if you're feelin' independent. Default is on.
  • Lyrics — show 'em or hide 'em. Hide 'em if you're a guitarist who doesn't need no stinkin' lyrics. Show 'em otherwise. Default is "default" (aka whatever the shared version says).
  • Chords — turn chords on or off. Vocalists can ditch 'em if they want. Default is "default" (aka shared version rules).
  • External File — use the song's external file or don't. Pianists might turn this on to get a fancy lead sheet while everybody else gets a chord chart. Default is "default" (aka shared version rules).
  • Transpose — transpose the song to its declared key or keep it as-is. Useful when you write in one key for one instrument then flip it for another. Default is "default" (aka shared version rules).
  • Capo — should capo be applied to the chord chart? Guitarists: yes. Bassists & pianists: nah. Default is "default" (aka shared version rules).
  • Chord Diagrams — draw 'em or don't. Think you're sooo good you don't need 'em? Go off & bask in your own genius (but like, chill). Default is "default" (aka shared version rules).
  • Instrument — pick what you actually play. We all know you're a jazz ukulele virtuoso, so set it here & stop gettin' guitar chords. Default is "default" (aka shared version rules).
  • Transposing Instrument — choose which transposing instrument gets applied to songs the leader's sharin'.
