Yank Out the Words

OnSong can yoink text from basically any file type it can slurp up. Here's what we're srsly capable of pullin' off:

Adobe PDF Text (.pdf)

Grabs text outta PDFs & uses fancy positioning math to figure out where the line breaks go. PDFs are obsessed with lookin' exactly like printed pages tho, so sometimes they're basically just pretty pictures of words. That might mean we gotta submit your file for OCR (that's "Optical Character Recognition" for y'all who don't speak tech garbage).

Apple Pages (.pages)

Old Pages files? Yeah, we can do that. New ones? LOL nope. Apple changed the format & didn't tell anybody. If you need the shiny new stuff, just export it as plain-text from Pages & we'll be your besties.

HTML Files (.html)

We rip the text outta web files & throw away all that confusing HTML tag nonsense. You're welcome.

OpenOffice Text (.odt)

OpenOffice files can become text, even if your iPad is too cool to look at the original files. We got this.

Optical Character Recognition (.pdf, .jpg, .png, .tiff, etc)

Got an image? OnSong can send it off to get OCR'd. Spoiler alert: the results are only as good as the pic. Handwritten stuff? Don't even bother, fam.

Microsoft Word (.doc and .docx)

We extract text from literally every version of Word ever made. You're welcome.

RTF Files (.rtf, .rtfd)

RTF is basically the dinosaur of word formats, but hey, we can pull text outta those bad boys too.

Note: "Conversion" = turning one file type into text. But real talk? Source files almost never come out lookin' like perfect OnSong or ChordPro material. You're gonna hafta get your hands dirty & tweak things after conversion if you want OnSong to actually be useful. Sorry not sorry.
