Bleepin' MIDI Tweaker
The MIDI editor lets you build or tweak a MIDI event. Sounds fancy, right? Really you're just tellin' it what type of MIDI event to yeet out into the digital void (or catch comin' back), plus the channel, value, & whatever other nerdy parameters matter for that particular event type.
OnSong supports a bajillion types of MIDI events. Pick your MIDI event type & the editor will (hopefully) figure out what questions to ask you about it. Peep the types below to see the editor transform into its final form.
Control Thingy
This is a control change (CC for the cool kids) — basically what your foot pedal, knob, or slider screams when you touch it. Pick a channel & a value to send & boom, control change event deployed.
Program Swap
This is a program change (PC if you're feelin\u{2019} spicy) event that makes your device flip to different sounds or modules. Gotta pick a channel AND the program. Wanna get extra? Throw in some bank select info & feel like a pro.
Play a Note
This actually makes sounds come outta your MIDI instrument. Channel + note value. That\u{2019}s the tea.
NRPN Wizardry
This is for the esoteric stuff — Non-Registered Parameter Numbers that some instruments apparently decided they needed to exist. We don\u{2019}t make the rules.
Play, Keep Goin\u{2019}, & Stop
These control MIDI playback of a track or sequence. No extra bells & whistles. Just do the thing.
Pick a Jam
Queue up a specific song. Revolutionary.
SysEx Chaos
Send the big brain advanced messages to MIDI devices. Usually manufacturer-specific nonsense that makes you feel like a wizard when it works.
Chill Out
Stick a pause in your list of MIDI events. For when your gear needs a sec to catch up.
Broadcast Mode
This links to a MIDI Global — a preset bundle of MIDI events that all live together in one happy little place instead of scattered everywhere. Organized? We\u{2019}re shook.
Note: The Send It! button pops up in random spots around OnSong. Tap it & watch your command zoom off to whatever MIDI thingies are plugged in.
