ESSENTIALS

The Document tab lets ya tweak the look & feel of each song—we're talkin' low light mode, tint color, font, paper size, & margins. Basically, make it pretty so your eyes don't melt.

Yeet Those Settings

Tap the wrench icon in the upper left corner to change the global system settings for how this whole thing behaves. Spoiler: it won't touch your per-song formatting. You're welcome.

Tint Mode

The mode determines which colors OnSong uses to draw your song on screen, & it can help make things visible in different lighting situations or for users with visual stress disorders. Modes auto-adjust for Low Light Mode. Pick nothin'? OnSong displays the song using boring default settings. Here's your color buffet:

• Paper shows the song in high contrast black & white. Very newspaper. Much retro.
• Dim looks like paper, but with lower contrast. Kinda like squinting.
• Sepia is like dim, but with warmed color tones. Ur grandma's Instagram filter.
• Sky overlays a blue tint to help with visual stress disorders. Chill vibes only.

Low Light Mode

To the right of the mode buttons is an icon to toggle low light mode. Flip it & boom—system-wide change that also affects the mode you've picked. This bleepin' thing applies to all songs & menus in OnSong. ZOMG.

Tap & hold the low light button to flex the Song Invert Mode context menu. From here you can change low light mode for this specific document. It defaults to "default" (real creative, we know), which means the song will vibe with whatever low light mode the system is doin'. Wanna force dark or light mode for just this song, independent of the app? Boom. You can do that.

Font Family

Four buttons at the top let ya pick the font for the whole dang song. Choose from:

• Georgia is a serif font that's easier to read for some peeps. Fancy-pants vibes.
• Helvetica is a sans-serif font that's perfect for chord charts. The default. Naturally.
• Courier is a fixed-width font useful for aligning chords when you're feelin' precise.
• Marker is a handwritten font that's super narrow, squeezing more content on the page. Cramped but cute.

Line Spacing

Wanna cram more stuff on screen? Reduce the line spacing, aka the space between lines. Or bump it up if your eyes need room to breathe. Tap the icons left & right of the sliders to fine-tune like a boss. Adjusts between 0.7 & 1.3 lines. Default is 1.0.

Paper

Sets the size of the virtual page, which affects how big your fonts look. Larger paper = smaller fonts. Counterintuitive? Yep. The icons on the right let ya pick portrait or landscape. You're welcome.

Layout

The layout section defines how each page outputs when you're usin' the R2 Rendering Engine. Three controls for the price of one:

Pagination

Flow the chart down continuously like a never-endin' scroll, or break it into virtual sheets of paper. Your call, rockstar.

Columns

Pick one or two columns. Two columns? Your song sections flow to the other half of the sheet. Fancy.

Gutter

The width of space between columns. Options: 0" to 1" in 1/16" increments. Riveting stuff.

Margins

Add an inset on the edges of your virtual paper. Useful for makin' text visible & givin' space for Hot Corners or Navigation Zones when usin' section selection. The icon on the right shows when margins get tweaked: left, right, top, or bottom.

Footer

Set the footer size as a percentage of the lyrics font size. Use the button on the right to toggle the footer on & off. Thrilling.

All controls on this tab except low light mode apply to the selected song. We'll show ya how to apply changes to different songs in your library in a hot minute.
