That Thing We Beg You to Do

Backing up is basically the only thing standin' between your OnSong library & total chaos. This screen is where you manually create backups like some kinda responsible human, or set 'em up to happen automatically while you're sleepin' (or whatever). Once you've got your backup strategy locked down, tap Close to save your brilliance, or tap Backup to yeet that backup file into the void right now.

Where Stuff Goes

This section is basically "pick a place, any place" for OnSong to stash your backup. Tap here to choose a service & location where your backup's gonna chill.

OnSong® Cloud is on by default when you're logged in like a normal person. If you ditched your login, your backup just lives on your device in File Sharing. Riveting.

Backup File

Here's where you name your backup file & decide what goes in it. Thrilling stuff.

Filename

Type in a name. Default is "OnSong" or whatever you called your library. The ".backup" extension gets slapped on automatically because we're fancy like that. Psst: This isn't available if you're using OnSong® Cloud. Sorry not sorry.

Append a timestamp to the filename

By default, OnSong doesn't timestamp. But if you turn it on, it'll add a number like 201809091045 (year-month-day-hour-minute, for the nerds). Every backup gets its own file. Skip the timestamp & it just overwrites the old one. FYI: Also not available with OnSong® Cloud. See a pattern?

What Media Gets Packed

Your backup's got EVERYTHING — songs, sets, books, settings, styles. But some stuff is CHUNKY (lookin' at you, MultiTracks). Use this to cherry-pick what you actually wanna backup & keep the file from blowin' up your hard drive.

Auto-Backup (The Responsible Way)

Backups are awesome, IF you remember 'em. Let OnSong do the heavy liftin' without you liftin' a finger.

Automatically Backup Library

OnSong backs up your library when you close the app. Toggle this on or off & feel the power.

Requires WiFi Connection

Backup files are HUGE. If you're on a cellular plan & don't wanna blow through your data like it's NOM NOM candy, turn this on. OnSong'll skip the backup if WiFi's ghostin' you. Default is off (we're rebels).

Backup Frequency

Pick how often the app backs up when it closes: hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. It's like choosin' your own adventure, but boring.

Pro tip: If you turn on both auto-backup AND timestamps, we'll bug you with an alert sayin' "yo, disable timestamps." That combo creates a million files & your storage goes POOF. We're just tryin' to help, buddy.

Hit It When You Want

Tap the button in the upper right corner to manually backup RIGHT NOW.

Where's My Backup?

Bottom of the screen shows when your last backup was saved. If one's currently goin', you'll see a progress bar showin' both the creatin' & the uploadin'. Riveting entertainment.

While a backup's happenin', that Backup button turns into a Stop button. Tap it to nuke the whole operation & bail out. OnSong keeps runnin' in the background like nothin' happened.
