Tick-Tock Overlord

The following actions can be performed to manipulate the metronome in OnSong. (AKA: Make that click track dance to your tune, peeps.)

The Beat Police

Controls whether your metronome is actually, y'know, doing its job.

  • Start the metronome. (It's alive!)
  • Stop the metronome. (RIP.)
  • Toggle the metronome on or off depending on the current state of the metronome. (Can't decide? Let the app choose for you.)

Pan

Shoves the metronome left, right, or—plot twist—center in your stereo field. Because apparently you needed that.

  • Adjust the position of the metronome from left to right using a variable trigger. (Ooh, stereo. Fancy.)
  • Left places the metronome into the left channel. (Lonely little beep over here.)
  • Center places the metronome into the center, using both left and right channels. (Democracy for your ears.)
  • Right places the metronome into the right channel. (Nope, everything's over there now.)

Tempo

Speed up, slow down, or tap-dance your way to the perfect BPM. We don't judge.

  • Adjust the tempo of the song using variable input from between minimum and maximum tempos. (Slide it like you mean it.)
  • Change lets you change to a tempo using the Tempo Picker. (The fancy button for indecisive musicians.)
  • Increase the tempo of the song by 1 BPM. (Creeping up like a snail on espresso.)
  • Decrease the tempo of the song by 1 BPM. (Sloooowww down, hotshot.)
  • Tap changes the tempo of the current song based on taps. This taken into account the current time signature. This should not be used on high latency foot pedals since they are designed to forgive accidental foot taps or double entry. (Tap it out like you're keepin' the beat—unless your pedal is basically a potato, then just, like, don't.)

Volume

Turn that click up, down, or off. Your bandmates will love you either way (spoiler: they won't).

  • Adjust the volume of the metronome using a variable trigger. (Dial it in, you tiny ear creature.)
  • Increase the volume of the metronome using the default increment of 6.25%. (LOUDER!)
  • Decrease the volume of the metronome using the default increment of 6.25%. (Shhhhh.)
  • Mute the metronome, allowing it to continue to keep time & optionally blink the menubar. This is great to use for practice to see if the beat can be maintained without click reinforcement. (The ultimate test: Can you actually play in time, or are you just that person?)
