Doodads & Buttons

When you're rockin' out with OnSong live, you literally don't have TIME to be pokin' at your screen like some kinda peasant. That's where these bad boys come in — they let you trigger stuff without lookin' like you're textin' during a guitar solo.

Editors

Behold: a buncha editors you can summon into existence with a single action. Srsly:

  • Oopsie-Daisies cranks open the Action-Packed Editor.
  • Hear Me Now shows you the Audio Media Library screen (aka: where all your sick beats live).
  • Chord Squiggles opens the chord diagrams library (for when your fingers forget how to work).
  • MIDI displays The MIDI Editor (aka: robot music time).
  • Scene Stealer displays the Scenes Editor screen.
  • Song Frankenstein opens the song editor where you can make changes to chords & lyrics (aka: fix your mistakes).
  • Eye Candy opens the Visual Media Editor where you add & edit images & video (basically our art department).

Live Bar? More Like "Stay Alive" Bar

This section lets you show & hide the live bar chillin' in a corner of the song viewer. Options:

  • Show will unhide the live bar if you ditched it.
  • Hide will vanish the live bar if it's gettin' in your way.
  • Toggle will flip back & forth between these states like a light switch (but fancier).

Low Light

Turn the screen into a spooky dark mode for when you're performin' on a stage darker than your soul.

  • On turns low light mode ON for dark paper with light text (very goth, very you).
  • Off turns low light mode OFF for a light paper with dark text (bleedin' your retinas since 2024).
  • Toggle flips low light on & off like you're controllin' the mood. When it's ON, the background is black with white text — very moody, very stage.

Hamburger Time

You can create actions to open specific menus from the menubar includin':

The menubar lets you interact with the app but it can TOTALLY get in the way when you're tryin' to look cool on stage.

  • Show the menubar so you can tap stuff like a boss.
  • Hide the menubar for a full screen view (aka: pretend you're not losin' it).
  • Toggle toggles the menubar on & off for that full screen life.

Actions can be used to navigate menus in the user interface. OnSong will assign some of these actions to foot pedal buttons when a songs menu is displayed (your feet are now your DJ).

  • Previous navigates the selected item to the previous item in the list (aka: go back one, buddy).
  • Next navigates the selected item to the next item in the list (keep it movin').
  • Top goes to the top of the currently opened menu (ZOOM ZOOM).
  • Bottom goes to the bottom of the currently opened menu (hit rock bottom, literally).
  • Back navigates to the previous menu screen on the navigation stack. For instance, if you are viewin' your All Your Bops list, the Back action will view the Book Stuff.
  • Search will scroll to the search bar in the list, highlight the search term, & display the on-screen keyboard. If no search bar exists in the current menu, literally nothin' happens (sad trombone).
  • Select will select the currently highlighted item, immediately performin' its selected action.

By default, items are not selected immediately but merely highlighted until time expires like your warranty. Use the Select action to select the items immediately & perform the selected function. You can change this behavior under Lil' Tweaks » Menu Tweaks » Your Tunes » Navigation » Auto-Pick for Me.

Quick Grab

Allows you to quickly search for songs to play or add to the set without loosin' your mind. Hidin' the Quick Grab screen may not function when HID Bluetooth devices such as foot pedals that emulate a computer keyboard are bein' weird. This is due to the text cursor bein' used for text entry at that time (blame the foot pedal, not us).

Cheese!

This provides actions for takin' screenshots of various parts of the user interface includin':

  • Show will show the screenshot user interface.
  • Hide will hide the screenshot user interface.
  • Toggle will toggle the visibility of the screenshot user interface (make up your mind).
  • Capture will capture the currently opened menu or screen (say "ZOMG"!).

Time Machine

This allows you to load saved snapshots of settings. Snapshots can be made by tappin' on the camera button at the bottom of the Settings Screen.

  • Load lets you choose a named snapshot to be loaded. This could be useful if you need different style settings for different gigs (we got you, multi-tasker).

Your Tunes

The songs list is used for interactin' with your song library, set, & book. When opened, the Scroll Up & Down actions can select rows in the list (feet not required, but encouraged).

  • Show the song menu.
  • Hide the song menu.
  • Toggle shows & hides the song menu based on its current state (Schrödinger's menu).

Internet Magic

Web actions allow you to open a web page or video file as an action in your song. For instance, you could tap on a sticky note to view a tutorial video for that song part (basically: YouTube on demand).

  • Open presents the Web Action Editor where you can configure how a URL will be opened.
  • Close the opened web action.

Doodads

These actions let you show & hide widgets (aka: the tiny helpers).

  • Show will show all enabled widgets.
  • Hide will hide all visible widgets.
  • Toggle allows you to choose a specific widget to show & hide (pick your fave).
