MIDI's Fancy Sandbox

The Buttony Thingamajig™ lets you make or mess with MIDI events. Basically, you get to pick what kind of MIDI yelling to send or listen for, plus channel junk, value doodads, & whatever other parameters are vibin' with your chosen MIDI event. Srsly.

OnSong's got a whole buncha MIDI event types. Pick one of these bad boys to figure out how to make it do what you want.

The Control Flip

It\u{2019}s a control change (CC for the nerds) that usually gets yelled at your device by some foot pedal, knob, or slider you\u{2019}re jabbin\u{2019} at. You pick a channel & value, hit send, & pray it works.

The Program Switcher

Program change (PC, obvs) event that\u{2019}s all about switchin\u{2019} sounds or modules on your gear. Channel? Required. Program number? Also required. Bank select stuff? Optional, but hey, go wild.

The Note Player

Plays actual notes on your MIDI instrument (revolutionary, we know). Pick a channel & note value. Don\u{2019}t mess this up or you\u{2019}ll sound like a toddler.

The Weird One (NRPN)

Sends Non-Registered Parameter Numbers to devices that apparently demand them. (We\u{2019}re still figuraon\u{2019} this one out, tbh.)

Start, Keep Goin\u{2019}, & Stop

Control MIDI playback of a track or sequence. No extra bells & whistles. Just on, off, & middle.

The Song Picker

Queues up a specific song. That\u{2019}s literally it.

The Spicy One (SysEx)

Advanced MIDI messages that usually only the manufacturer understands. We sure don\u{2019}t.

The Pause Button

Adds delays between MIDI commands for equipment that\u{2019}s too slow to keep up. (Your gear\u{2019}s basically a boomer.)

The Group Blast

Sends a bundle of precooked MIDI commands all at once. It\u{2019}s like a MIDI combo meal.
