Chat messages show up in grey on the other person's screen—because apparently color is expensive. Words flash by faster than your attention span: roughly a third of a second per word, plus however long it takes to blink. Riveting stuff. Want messages to linger longer so people can actually read them? (Revolutionary concept, we know.)
